Overview

The only world in the Confedus subsector's records to ever have undergone Exterminatus, Cyre is now a dead world haunted by the echo of billions dying.

History

Cyre once was a lush civilized world that approached hive world classification until the First Pox War. Nurgle's minions started cults that preyed on the menial's dissatisfaction with their reduced rations and luxuries due to the demands of the warfront, and these cults spread corruption that soon enveloped the whole world. Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor Lars Ganthar and his retinue investigated the unrest, and soon found evidence of dark rituals and swarms of daemons of nurgle, with the world drifting closer and closer to becoming a daemon world. The threat of a Daemon World in Confedus was a terrifying prospect, and after narrowly escaping with his life Inquisitor Ganthar convened the conclave to declare Exterminatus on Cyre, a request that was granted. Inquisitorial blackships appeared over the world, and as the beleaguered defending loyalists looked to the sky for salvation they received a massive wave of plate-cracker core torpedoes that obliterated the world's surface as tectonic plates rose up and crashed down. Today, the world is an abandoned reminder of the dangers of letting any heresy fester, and all but the most foolhardy or desperate avoid traveling near Cyre as the screams of billions dying in unison left a terrifying imprint on warpspace nearby.
