Overview
A brutal deathworld that key feature's is its harsh and quick approaching acid rain, Aciad provides little besides its famed Guard Regiments.
Life on Aciad
So corrosive is the acid rain that the lifeforms of Aciad have evolved to incorporate rock and metal into their body, shielding them somewhat from the corrosion. This requires massive amounts of energy to replenish their armor after each frequent acid-storm and thus both the flora and fauna rapidly grow and eat - with glimmervines capable of growing 100 feet in one day. Humans live on Aciad, but the brutal rain corrodes all metal shelters over time, necessitating frequent repairs and scrap-welds. An acid storm can approach in as little as two minutes, and the inhabitants of Aciad have only that time to return to their roofed compounds, find natural shelter (which is almost always guarded by nasty creatures), or slaughter a creature with a protective hide to shelter in until the storms passed.
The acid is incredibly corrosive, and a person can be killed in as little as 30 seconds of direct exposure, even those only briefly exposed bear terrible scars and burns. Luckily the acid rain is only a danger when in the air, as exposure to ground, rocks, or metals quickly change it to normal water. The fauna of Aciad is terrifying and constantly encroaches on survivor compounds, with the Aciad Bombfrogs and Lickers especially feared. The Bombfrogs hide in the thick glimmervines, waiting for someone to startle it before it explodes - with its metal back it becomes a frag grenade, and many a hunter has been ended by the skull sized toads. The Licker is more feared and much larger, while incredibly nimble for its size Lickers are the size of a Taurox, and hide in the thick tree canopies, waiting for prey to pass underneath - at which point, befitting its name, it extends one of it's long, spiked tongues and wraps the poor victim like an iron maiden. Surviving on Aciad is a constant fight, for shelter, food, and existence, and any visit to the world brief and short with the engines left running, as not even the hull of voidcraft can resist the touch of Aciad's rain for too long. Aciad has no proper tithe, besides the occasional guard regiment. As vehicles on Aciad are rare, with the few existent ones heavily armored cranes or bulldozers, only infantry regiments are raised, though the Aciad 'Scarred' Regiments are well known for their resiliency, excellence in close combat against large xenos and monsters, and near unbreakable morale, though they lack discipline and tend to choose their own objective with commissars struggling to maintain order as the threat of execution with a quick bolter shot is a relief compared to the average death on Aciad. Their close quarters and resistance to following orders have mostly led to their assignment to the meat grinder at the Iron Gate, fighting orks in a constant stalemate.
