Overview
The most sacrosanct planet in subsector Gothar, Templehof is the final testing place for the Gotharic nobility and Eternum's Naval officers and heroes. Destroyed ships that performed deeds of note also have mausoleums here, with fragments of the ship interred alongside its deceased crew. For those individuals who were honored but unrecoverable (either due to total destruction or being lost in the warp), their graves instead hold a fragment of their ship and a copy of Battlefleet Eternum's Uplifting Verses and Prayers of the Navy's Heroes and Tactical Primer. Templehof holds no significant population, the only permanent inhabitants being the groundskeeper clans, the Ministorum Priests that serve the crypts, and the Battlefleet Eternum Honor Guard composed of veteran Armsmen who stand vigil over famous Naval heroes graves.
Unique to Cemetary worlds, even those who serve the Imperial Navy, the central mausoleum is actually an ancient modified Apocalypse class battleship, filled with shrines and adorned with purity seals, the Oculi Imperatoris has rested on Templehof since the end of the Horus Heresy, serving as a reminder of the price of service. Through ancient agreements the mechanicus maintains the battleship with the assistance of Templehof's priests on behalf of the Navy, and although it is a massive 16 kilometer long shrine filled with memorials and temples it has been maintained well. So well is it maintained that it could be pressed into service if crewed, and while its modifications that include an ornate and massive prow (even by Imperial standards), torpedo autoloaders, reinforced armor, enhanced void Shields, and a faster engine than otherwise found on battleships owing to its ancient manufacturing, actually deploying it is a campaign in of itself. While Eternum Militarum Command is in favor of launching her, the Imperial Navy is opposed to launching it as it contains their most revered hero's graves, as have Eternum's governors opposed launch as the risk of loss of such an important symbol to the Navy and Eternum would be disastrous. Still, the ancient Concord does provide the choice to activate if Militarum Command, Eternum's governor, and the Lord Admiral all agree it is necessary to defend the sector - though such a choice would only come about if Eternum faced truly dark days. The ruinous powers have also shown interest in stealing the relic for themselves, and thus the Templehof Honor Guard must always be on the guard - even as recently as the First Poxwar a Nurglite cult infected one of the groundskeeper clans responsible for maintaining the ship mausoleum, and the Templehof uprising almost saw the Oculi Imperatoris corrupted by the plague god with only the timely intervention of the Crimson Hammer stopping the enemy from acquiring a super battleship.
