Overview

The larger of the twin shipyards (its twin Port Uralplagush, whose original name is lost to time, fell to Chaos during the Horus Heresy), Port Tecklenbor is the most critical location in Eternum to the Imperial Navy, and were it not for its constant efforts Battlefleet Eternum would slowly dwindle. Port Tecklenbor is responsible for the vast majority of vessel construction, refitting, and repairs in Eternum, and also is home to a significant portion of the mothballed reserve fleet.

History and Design

Originally built during the Great Crusade alongside its twin (the Port now known as Uralplagush) the twin shipyards were designed to firmly state Man's dominance over Eternum, and this they have through mass construction of all manner of ships, from the humble Firestorm frigate to the mighty Emperor class battleship. Unfortunately, the demand for ships has only increased since the Great Crusade and Port Tecklenbor must continually launch new vessels to match the tainted crafts produced by her sister port. Like its twin, Port Tecklenbor was founded on a dwarf planet which over millennia of construction and mining it has completely subsumed, with mere fragments left of the original planetoid tied together through massive ship foundries and manufactorums. The Port has grown to be sphere like, with the bulk of the large shipwraights, foundries, command and control, and defenses forming a thick ring, with habitation, massive power generators, vessel docks, escort class and smaller shipyards rising above and below the ring. The core of Port Tecklenbor, like its twin originally possessed, is a massive city sized plasma fusion reactor that pumps its plasma through long running cooling pipes that snake through the entire port, and is fed by a constant supply of Hydrogen fuel scooped from the nearby star.

Defenses

Port Tecklenbor is an incredibly formidable target for a conventional fleet, even if the fleets it services are discounted, Tecklenbor has significantly more macrocannon batteries, lances, torpedoes, strike craft, defensive turrets, and armsmen than even the mighty Phalanx of the Imperial Fists, and Tecklenbor's void shield is nigh impenetrable. These are not the only weapons defending Tecklenbor, as Nova Cannons and even more advanced weapons also stand ready to defend her. Tecklenbor does have one weakness the Imperial Navy and Mechanicus are all too aware of - such is the size of the plasma reactor that were coolant shut off at more than 2 of the 6 coolant axes, or if a weapon comparable to lost oversized vortex world shattered munitions detonated in the core, Tecklenbor would be completely torn apart in the resulting firestorm, obliterating the majority of any docked vessels of Battlefleet Eternum and leaving her unable to continue to fight. Security is thus ridiculously enforced, with whole armies of Naval armsmen, Inquisitorial stormtroopers, and Militarum Tempestus Scions defending the Cult Mechanicus and Skittarii dedicated to maintaining (and if needed, protecting) the reactor core. Such is the importance of Tecklenbor, even the Inquisitorial conclave stations two Inquisitors and their interrogators there whose sole mission is to root out any heresy.

Life and Government

Life on Tecklenbor is accordingly strict, with every laborer issued brands for tracking, and any access to even approaching a bulkhead gangway that leads towards the enginerium strictly monitored. The outer rings are not so strictly controlled, and thus both the inhabitants and visitors are free to mingle and discuss business or visit one of Tecklenbor's many distractions. Tecklenbor itself is ruled by a triumvirate consisting of the Fabricator Consul who represents the Mechanicus, the Lord Admiral of Eternum who ensures naval matters are addressed, and the Administratum Adept-Governor. The Adept-Governor in practice is in charge over all matters not related to production or the domain of the Mechanicus, and is responsible for ensuring the civilian population are maintained and have enough to continue to work. While Eternum's Lord Admiral is technically part of the governance of Port Tecklenbor, in practice the Lord Admiral rarely intervenes except to prioritize ship construction, repair, or refitting. It is his authority alone that can activate the mothballed reserve fleet, as not only would that be a significant expense in resources and manpower, but a large portion of the reserves were Keel built or discontinued classes - both possessing a propensity for turning traitor. Time will tell if Eternum requires them, and if they stay loyalist vessels or fall to the ruinous powers like so many of their sister ships.
