Overview
Lonehill was once a temperate civilized world with a geological anomaly that led to it being predominantly flat with only one large hill range - hence the name granted to it by original colonists. Lonehill possessed significant Medicae and Administratum facilities, storing large numbers of historical records and trained Administratum adepts. Its hospitals were well known throughout the subsector for offering medical assistance to needier worlds, though with an obsession for patient documentation that bordered on excessive for even the Administratum. Although its native Guard regiments and PDF fought valiantly, they could not withstand the viral bombing unleashed by the plague host fleets during the First Poxwar - unfortunately forcing the survivors to stew in the fetid blight until the relief force from the Crimson Hammer arrived. This relief fleet, after careful consideration and fresh from the destruction of so many other worlds lost, declared Exterminatus against the world owing to the endemic plagues that had tainted the world to its core - with its destruction heralding a significant loss of history for Eternum, one that continues to this day with several centuries lost to Imperial records completely. Unlike many of the other destroyed worlds caused by the first Poxwar, Lonehill maintains an outpost controlled by the Inquisitorial Conclave of Eternum, an outpost designed to comb the crumbled remains to try and locate any surviving fragments. This is a perilous mission however, as not only are the excavations exposed to the vacuum and dangerous in their own right, but not everything died on Lonehill during the bombardment. This has led to outbreaks of dangerous diseases and plague zombies that have had to repeatedly be squashed by Inquistorial forces or requisitioned assets tasked to purge the outpost - though it is not long before fresh archaeologists and adepts are brought in to continue their predecessor's work.
