Overview

A perilous though productive gas giant, the Fire Star possesses a multitude of gasses useful for imperial manufacturing and fuel including rare gasses found nowhere else in Eternum in great quantities. This comes at a cost however, as the aptly named Fire Star occasionally self ignites and shoots large plumes of superheated plasma out into space - an event the massive vessels harvesting the gasses must always be on guard for. The massive behemoths responsible for this harvesting are ancient voidcraft, though not warp capable, with each being a city in its own right. Nobles oversee each craft in a hierarchy reminiscent of hive city nobility, with a chain of authority going from the Harvester Lord to the lowliest slave, with a whole society in between. The harvesters meet warp capable ships in orbit to transfer their cargo before returning to the Fire Star to continue. Each behemoth is irreplaceable, though incredibly resilient- although several have been caught in a flareout, the hull of the ship survives (though the inhabitants do not). As the flareouts preclude any orbital stations, the planetary governor rules from the largest of the harvesting behemoths which rival Imperial battleships in size, with each harvester possessing its own defense forces. The Fire Star avoided assault during the First Poxwar owing to the massive Filimars fleet stationed there to protect harvesting operations, and even in modern times Filimars closely monitors the Fire Star to ensure required materials continue to be exported.
