Overview

The site of the last Imperial bastion of Arkamedes during the Green Croosade, Ulaangom was destroyed by the defenders to delay the WAAAGH!!! long enough to allow the Iron Gate to be built. Ulaangom had been an industrial world where Battlefleet Arkamedes laid their primary Anchorage, but as the Green Kroosade ravaged Arkamedes it was fortified by remaining forces in Arkamedes. Hastily constructed trenches and bunkers weathered assault after assault, though as the full might of the orkish invasion centralized over Ulaangom the defenders were slowly pushed back. The fight in orbit continued on, with Battlefleet Arkamedes taking ten Ork vessels for every one of theirs, but the green tide was ceaseless. Months of fighting took their toll, but Militarum command had achieved their goal of focusing the bulk of the Ork horde on one planet.

The defenders continued to fight, even as their numbers dwindled, trusting in Militarum Command, though they were not privy to the true plan. With the might of the Kroosade centralized on one world, the Inquisitorial fleet escorted by Battlefleet Arkamedes carried out their mission, launching Atmospheric Incinerator Torpedoes at pre-targeted points on Ulaangom. The torpedoes quickly began their work, torching the entirety of the world and burning ork and Imperial alike. The delaying action worked, and when the remaining orks of the Kroosade had regrouped to try to continue their invasion, the Iron Gate stood ready and waiting, completely breaking the back of the WAAAGH!!!.  Ulaangom has remained lifeless since the Kroosade, though it remains a rallying cry for surviving Arkamedes Battlefleets, regiments, and specialists found throughout Eternum. Ulaangom remains a high priority for the eventual Imperial invasion to reclaim Arkamedes, both for the significant morale the dead world being resettled would bring and for a staging point for further pushes.
