Overview
A fortress world conceived at the conclusion of the First Poxwar, The Aural Gate was a barren desert world before being transformed into a maze of trenches, redoubts, bunkers, and massive anti orbital defense guns. Defense focuses around the Tideshifter, a masssive piece of archeotech that possesses the ability to disrupt the warp selectively nearby-allowing the fortress to prevent non-Imperial ships from warping deeper into sector Eternum. This archeotech is not perfect and there still exists lanes steady enough for smaller experienced ships to bypass, and the power requirements mean the Aural Gate must rely on constant shipments of fuel, resources, and manpower from attendant worlds like Auerilis IV. The Aural Gate is currently under invasion from the largest Rotbelcher attack since the first pox war, with massive amounts of Guardsmen, Inquisitorial agents, Battlefleet Eternum ships, Sisters of Battle, and Crimson Bulwark forces defending her. Although located in the most defended area of the already significantly defended fortress world, and attended by its own skittarii and stormtrooper defensive force (along with legions of tech priests and menials required to run it), it is the prime target of the Rotbelchers on the world-were it to be destroyed or even damaged, or if shipments cease flowing from the attendant worlds, the Caligulas subsector and Makerus subsector would be ripe for a full invasion the likes of which would harken back to the First Poxwar. Little is known about the devices origin, the only concrete information squirreled away in Inquisitorial archives is that it was originally discovered during a joint Ordo Xenos and Mechanicus archeological excavation, is assuredly man made with XV inscribed on it, and it was moved to the Aural Gate shortly after the fortress was completed.
