Overview

A rougher frontier world, at least for worlds closer to Caligulas, Vallus has large stretches of mountains with expansive deserts and badlands that separate them. The settlers of Vallus congregate around boomtowns, cheaply constructed towns that house and serve the many mines of the world, which output Plasteel and other useful elements. These boomtowns follow the luck of the mine they service, and are abandoned by most just as quickly as they sprung up. Most travel, or at least freight, relies on a network of Imperial trains that bring all the mineral output to the sole spaceport in the only truly permanent city on Vallus, San Joseph. Imperial law is loosely regulated on Vallus owing to its small population, with Sheriff's administering boomtowns according to their own interpretation of the law, the only central authority are the Vallus Marshalls who travel the world looking for train robbers and other notable fugitives. Enforcing the law is difficult on Vallus as most of the populace is armed, both to deal with dangerous native Xenofauna and for human threats, from raiders to those who cheat at card games in the boomtown saloons. Vallus's tithe is paid for with the mineral output and the best of the Marshalls, who function as the closest thing to a planetary defense force. The Vallus Groxboy Regiments have served as effective light infantry in the few engagements they've served in, though the low population of the world results in only a few Groxboy regiments in service at any given time.
