Overview

A jungle world settled by the Imperium, Hara has resisted mankind and left the frontier world lagging behind other planets. Not deadly enough to be classified as a death world, Hara's jungles nonetheless carry deadly fauna and flora that claim many lives every year, limiting the rate of expansion. Only a handful of large towns exist on Hara, with most of civilization clustered around the few hills that help dissuade the worst of Hara's native life. These towns are connected through poorly maintained muddy roads, with any traveling being done by armed caravans. Even with the more dangerous than usual lifeforms, Administratum Adepts believe Hara should be more successful than reality has let it - a phenomenon that has been under investigation by Inquisitorial agents for some time. It seems Hara itself is working against the colonists, for any achievement like clearing a swathe of rainforest for settlement is met with a reaction from mudslides to a swarm of hopperlocusts that ruin any expansion plans. The Haran people have grown accustomed to this with the commonplace phrase "Hara Gives One, Hara Takes One" summarizing their outlook. Imperial researchers have setup several observation and research stations, but few persist long in the humid rainforest. Hara does possess a larger tithe that reflects where it should be instead of its current reality, but thus far they've paid in extra bodies for the Imperium. Haran Locusts Regiments are commonly used for skirmish actions and harassment of enemy forces, though the poorly armed and trained forces cannot withstand concentrated force.
