Overview

A planned agri-world, Jiangyan is currently a frontier world undergoing the long atmospheric restructuring required for human settlement. As soon as the atmosphere had reached a breathable level settlers from Tokko, a motley collection of menials, house servants, and volunteers selected by House Jiangyan quickly moved to lay claim on the world. Expecting a mostly completed agriworld to claim governorship over, scion Tojho Showa Tenno Jiangyan arrived to a desolate reddish grey world, launched a planetary survey, then promptly turned around and returned to Tokko, leaving his settlers on the world. Stuck with no way back, and considering Tokkon culture, the new inhabitants settled in and began to build a new home. Early years were difficult, with many dying to starvation or the barely breathable atmosphere, but over time Jiangyan stabilized as the atmosphere normalized. The people maintained most of their Tokkon heritage, though hardened through the realities of living on a barely habitable planet. Though being a proper agri-world is still far away, more and more flora appears every year, and Jiangyan has, bound by their culture of honor, provided a manpower tithe in the form of Jiangyan Satsuma Regiments. The Satsuma Regiments are named after the standard Machete like blade the original settlers were equipped with, though built for agri-world use it proved critical for survival in breaking apart the few edible plants the Mechanicus had seeded the world with. Despite Clan Jiangyan leaving the settlers stranded on the world, the unique Tokkon culture turned any possible resentment into a trial of honor, thus modern Jiangyans view the Clan in a favorable light and kept the planet's name in honor of Tojho. Although Tojho fled, the Administratum edict establishing his governorship was never revoked, thus Clan Jiangyan still officially rules the planet. In practice however, the world is ruled by the Majordomo who only relays the most critical information to Clan Jiangyan governor, and given Clan Jiangyan's disregard for the remote and 'barbaric' colony, they historically rubber-stamp whatever edicts the Majordomo declares. Though a few Jiangyan governors have attempted to tighten restrictions on the Majordomo, or even try to revoke their title, in the past, the Planetary Defense Force is loyal to the Majordomo over the governors, and a misplaced tithe portion will result in far more trouble for Clan Jiangyan than the Majordomo who orchestrated it. Since these political growing pains, the relationship has been mostly cordial, though tension is expected when the world finally reaches proper agri-world status.
