Overview
A rugged boreal alpine world, Tabaclan is a Feudal world that provides the renowned Highland Imperial Guard Regiments.
Climate and Culture
Tabaclan is filled with large freshwater oceans termed 'Lachs' by the locals, with large hills and mountains holding the only land. Tabaclan is controlled by multiple Highlander and Lowlander clans, with a clan's power and prestige tied to the majesty and height of their mountain holdings. The largest clan, the Argyllans, control Iverness hold on the largest mountain chain with the second highest mountain peak, and as the largest and most powerful they are the primary clan the Imperium at large deals with. The Imperial governor rules from an orbital station and all tithes and Imperial interactions are treated as a religious ceremony by the Tabaclanites, with only the high druids permitted to meet with Imperial representatives. Tabaclan has a, relative to other backwater worlds, straightforward interpretation of the Imperial Cult - the Emperor is known as Etain and is the only God, and it is his benevolence that grants them their sun and growing season, and his anger that invokes storms and famine.
Interclan wars are frequent between Highland clans, while raids between the far more powerful highland clans and the weaker, less organized lowland clans are a fact of life on this world. The tithe is overseen by the druids of the world, organized in a heirachal cult and ruled from their seat of power at Hiebrides Etain (translated to low gothic as 'Emperor's Mountain', the largest mountain on Tabaclan. The tithe is small like most feudal worlds, with only agricultural and manpower collected. Tabaclanites are generally recruited for the Imperial Navy for their strength and resilience, but rarely an Imperial Guard regiment may be mustered.
Highland Regiments
Wearing their traditional kilts, the Black Watch march to battle under the wailing music of baggepypes. While they're terrible shots and only trusted with lasmuskets, their fiercesome charges wielding the signature Tabaclan claidheamh-mòr greatswords and stubborn refusal to yield has earned the few Tabaclan Highland Regiments praise from militarum command, even with their unruly and undisciplined nature. The most famed highland regiment, the Black Watch regiment serving as an excellent recruiting regiment for Inquisitorial agents, Imperial bodyguards, and rogue trader companions.
