Edgeview

An Imperial space station, Edgeview has been responsible for monitoring Putrilocus traffic attempting to bypass the Bubonic Rift.

Overview

Built on the border of Makerus and subsector Putrilocus, Edgeview is the closest Imperial facility to Putrilocus in Makerus. Intended to serve as both a listening post and first line of defense for any offensive from Putrilocus not originating from the Bubonic Rift, which itself is a rare event due to the extreme difficulty in crossing outside of the Bubonic rift, but not impossible. Edgeview possesses an incredibly advanced auspex and augar array, along with a sizable Astropathic Choir, both designed to alert the Imperium to any activity threatening Makerus. Edgeview cannot stop all threats that emerge from Putrilocus, but they can stop any threat or invasion large enough to threaten Imperial worlds, forcing the followers of the ruinous powers to either commit to an overwhelming invasion (one that would cause significant casualties from bypassing the Bubonic rift) or isolated infiltration teams or spies (which are limited by requiring an incredibly skilled navigator and helmsmen). Edgeview was invaded during the First Poxwar, though due to its labyrinthine design Imperial defenders managed to survive until relief forces could arrive. Far more defended now, with Imperial Guard regiments, an Imperial Navy Battlegroup, and large numbers of macrocannon batteries, lance batteries, strike craft bay, and torpedo tubes, Edgeview ensures Makerus can remain untouched from all but the most powerful plague hosts, and for the enemy fleets too powerful to stop it can at least warn Makerus Militarum Command. Edgeview is only a defense against threats directly emerging from Putrilocus however, and were a threat to come through the Bubonic Rift and fight their way through Caligulas, Edgeview would be completely neutered. Owing to the very low chance of a full invasion outside of the Bubonic rift, Edgeview has not seen a large action in awhile, and while they occasionally engage a smaller vessel or force who miscalculated sneaking through space, the main duty of Edgeview currently is to serve as a depot and forward operating base for anti-pirate operations in Makerus and the Shattered Worlds Belt in subsector Caligulas.
