Overview

Jackson Pits is one of the preeminent training grounds of the Eternum sector by its unique collection of biomes crafted by Mechanicus Biologicus Magos, containing one of almost every climate the Imperium could expect to fight in. At any given time there are multiple newly formed more well connected regiments being broken in, while experienced regiments oft return to hone their skills, even the odd space marine or Inquisitorial team takes a run through the live fire combat zones to keep sharp. Once a new regiment has gone through initial training, they test their mettle against live fire courses in their expected biome or biomes, fighting combat servitors and emplacements designed to invoke the approximate tactics used by the enemies of man. These courses are scaled based on the experience and skill of the regiment or unit, with space marine or Inquisitorial courses fighting whole armies of servitors and xeno beasts. This provides excellent training, and regiments that train on Jackson Pits often survive longer than their peers, though this comes at a cost - casualties are common, with deaths frequent enough to justify onsite corpse processing for live fire zones. Servitors are designed to deactivate upon taking an approximation of force that would eliminate the hostile force they're representing, though this is far from perfect, with the occasional servitor standing in for a heretic Astartes dying to a errant lasbolt that hit a critical processor, or a servitor representing a grot accidentally loading a carnifex target profile instead. As the Mechanicus only sends damaged or disposable servitors to Jackson Pits this is somewhat a frequent occurrence, but these minor incidents are a minor blip in the efficacy of its training program and treated as an element of enhanced tactical training by the overseers.
