The Dying Twins

Overview

A binary white dwarf system, the two stars in the Dying Twins system are approaching the end of their life. Astronomic adepts believe the end of the two star's life is imminent, and the supernova they will both explode into will scorch and destroy all worlds within. A concrete date has not been obvious to researchers, but it is believed to be happening anywhere from 1 year to 1000. The worlds within, long abandoned with their populaces dead or long gone are filled with archeotech, vast swathes of abandoned treasures, and also are the sectors only source for flects. Made of broken glass that has long been seeped in the chaotic energies of the warp from the Phobox Anomaly, flects are a much sought after drug that, when the user stares at them, can grant an immense high, immense terror, or something worse. Even with the risks, and the fact they are illegal in Imperial space, they have a massive amount of abusers looking to escape their life. Smugglers and rogue traders visit the world of Spirate Maxima to collect these and any other archeotech or relics they can find, but each expedition is fraught with danger. The few creatures and people left on Spirate Maxima when the Phobox Anomaly enveloped it have mutated from long exposure to the empyreum, and the dying twins put out a constant level of radiation and particles that can cause electronics to fail and unprotected individuals to die.
