Overview

An anomaly originally thought to be a legend due to the common myth of the sector about a traitor's fate, The Gate of Eternity is a product of the warp, a portal sitting upon a marble engraved platform, floating stationary in the void. Many brave and foolish explorers have gone into it, with few returning. Those who return are changed, and only one survivor has ever not immediately attacked their waiting party. The mad hermit, his new moniker, claims he lived a million lifetimes, observing everything, everywhere, powerless to act, merely floating and watching. The mad hermit cast off his former life as the noble son of sector nobility, and now offers glimpses of the future for those who make him an offering wherever he is found wondering. Told in disjointed, near indecipherable form, his prophecies are almost impossible to understand but are always true. The few who have figured out what he told them have never revealed what it says, but each disappeared shortly after claiming to have figured it out. The mad hermit has supposedly been killed by the Ordos several times, and is far older than any human should be, but he has always reappeared on some distant world with more prophecies to share.
