Overview

Remiticulum is a key part of Eternum's Inquisitorial Conclave, serving as a prison, archive, and testing ground for the countless encounters the Inquisition handles.

Archives

Massive city sized secure warehouses hold Inquisitorial evidence and archived secrets, training facilities allow interrogators, retinues, and stormtroopers to train against the horrors they may face, tech enclaves of the Mechanicus forge items for Inquisitors and research recovered archeotech, massive libraries hold forbidden knowledge, and prisons hold Inquisitorial prisoners that haven't quite warranted execution (and that can be repurposed as expendable penal forces to stay on good terms with sector militarum command), with massive fortress complexes snaking between these buildings maintaining a constant vigil.

A common punishment for underperforming Inquisitorial soldiers or adepts is permanent assignment to patrol or cataloguing the massive continent sized warehouse complexes-an assignment that carries significant risk, not from just from enemies, but the sheer size. Datashelfs falling can cause minor earthquakes due to the amount of records, and becoming lost in a warehouse complex can lead to death by starvation or dehydration easily. The odd enemy lurks in quarantined basements that hold old cognitive data hazards or escaped evidence, and record pulling for the more esoteric archives require a proper armed force, with plenty of supplies. Penal legionaries are oft formed up to patrol or clear certain areas, or escort lesser adepts as they pull records, only the penal legionaries with the least disciplinary reprimands are chosen, though they're closely watched by cadet or junior commissars in training.

Reticulum's population outside the multitude of Inquisitorial prisoners is comprised of those who have seen too much but didn't warrant execution (though that's decided by each Inquisitor), promising candidates for Inquisitorial service (either earmarked in training or scholas), or Inquisitorial troopers (generally comprised of guardsmen whose regiments were decimated when requisitioned by Inquisitors). There are many secrets hidden away on Reticulum, both regarding the history of certain institutions in Eternum and the more arcane, xeno, or heretical, though most are lost to orphaned records and the only Inquisitors aware of them long past. These secrets are tempting to those who either serve the archenemy or have a reckless lust for power, and occasionally they can slip by the Sepulchur and even the archive guard, adding to the dangers of searching the archive-cities of Remiticulum.
