Overview

Another important world to the Imperial Navy, Arvaikheer is an industrial world that is responsible for production of Naval armament and support class ships. Arvaikheer produces significant numbers of standard torpedoes, macrocannon shells, lance capacitors, hull patch kits, and other ship supplies while also producing the Arvaikheer class transport that so often ferries Guard regiments and supplies. Although far from glamorous warships, Arvaikheer transports are consistently in high demand - so high in demand that they're often deployed as soon as they're assembled to deliver ammunition to needy fleets. Arvaikheer itself is a craggy, dull red world which is predominantly covered by badlands and deserts. The world itself is tinted dull red after millenia of pollution from its plentiful manufactorums, though the population is centered around large cities clustered around the world's few water sources. In between these cities are massive mine complexes that feed the manufactorums a constant supply of resources carried on the large rails that connect the outposts to cities and cities to each other. The only other inhabitants that live outside the cities are either badlands dwelling moisture farmers, scavengers, or pirates who attempt to hijack the occasional train.

The world has avoided becoming a forge world for two reasons - the Navy has de facto control of Arvaikheer and does not want to have to share production of its consumables and ammunition with the Mechanicus, and Arvaikeens have an odd cultural tradition that prohibits construction of buildings above a certain height. Cultural history adepts have tried to determine where this practice originated, as there are no technical considerations that would prevent tall structures from existing, but have only turned up rumors or myths. The current prevailing belief is that this practice was started by one of the world's past bishops, who, after finishing construction of his Cathedral was offended that a habitation block rose above his spire and thus whipped his congregation into a frenzy and burned down the tenement with the unlucky residents still inside. After this, the bishop saw to laws being passed that limited the height of any permanent structure to be one inch lower than his Cathedral's spire. This theory states that over the following millenia Arvaikheer forgot what originally prompted their height restriction, but both the laws and urban legends of vengeful spirits who punished those who tried to circumvent the regulations have kept the traditional height limit in place. The Cathedral is still the tallest structure on Arvaikheer, with the cities and manufactorums building wide instead of tall - thus requiring Arvaikheer to have an intricate and widespread rail network to service the long factories. Arvaikheer's tithe is primarily production related, though they are also expected to raise Guard regiments and supply manpower to the Imperial Navy in smaller amounts. Although pollution is high and most citizens are expected to work in the manufactorums, Arvaikheer nonetheless has a somewhat higher standard of living than comparable worlds as the height restriction prevents the super dense clusters where trouble can hide that so often plague other worlds, and even the poorest Arvaikheens can see the sky. Arvaikheer is currently overseen by Governor Florian Gustav Neimann, himself the head of the Neimann noble family who live on Bellerophon. Although their governor is oft absent so he may partake in Bellerophon's luxuries and participate in its political games, Arvaikheer is a stable planet that has little in the way of unrest.
