Overview

A surprisingly egalitarian world, Altai allows their population to vote for representatives who in turn vote for higher offices, up to these elected officials deciding the governor of the world for a period of ten local years. Altai is classified as a civilized world and is relatively prosperous for a egalitarian world, though only in the eyes of those who live there. Eternum's nobility, fearing the risk of more egalitarian systems of governance that do away with their 'hard earned' birthright have used their control of Eternum's propaganda machine to paint Altai as a lawless hellhole where people vote on who to execute, a campaign which has been incredibly successful. Altai thus has little immigration and has remained an isolated world, further complicated by the unofficial boycott levied against her by the same nobles. Only through one sided trade with Filimars is Altai able to import neccessary goods, but even with the trading steeply in favor of Filimars, Altai procures enough to survive, if not prosper. These campaigns against Altai have had a positive effect for its required Guard tithe and enterprising would be bodyguards, as the hellish conditions depicted on Altai make Eternum believe they are hardy warriors to be able to survive in such a place. Altai Congressional Regiments are effective line infantry, and though the average individual cannot compete with a true death worlder they have served as cost effective retinue members and stable Guard regiments.
