Overview

A unique deathworld, Monagua has no fiercesome wildlife (beyond the Hopper-Sharks that prey on fish and isolated swimmers) and a beautiful temperate climate. In fact, it would be an ideal world to live on, were it not for the fact that it was completely covered in oceans with only a few jutting mountains. An oceanic world alone isn't unconquerable, however, Monagua has incredibly fierce hurricanes that can cover quarters of the planet with their size, and are strong enough to generate two hundred feet tall waves that batter anything on the surface. As such, permanent settlement is impossible, and the survivors of the original colony ship live in large town-ships, cobbled together from the remains of the original colony ship, other unlucky voidships that landed looking for safe harbor on a mountain that was soon drowned by the fury of the sea, or more rarely with parts traded with offworlders.

The largest town-ships are floating cities complete with simple landing ports for tithe collection and recruitment, but all town-ships must remain vigilant and mobile to avoid the Maneater cyclones. Their mastery of the sea, combined with experience working in a massive ship make Monaguans prized recruits for the Imperial Navy, with the only other tithe being food. Monagua is covered with massive algae-kelp formations which are processed en masse to edible provisions at a rate that rivals small agriworlds. The mechanicus has investigated the possibility of calming the storms, and while the technology is available to do this would eliminate the mass algae-kelp patches and reduce the value of the world, thus Monagua stays a stormy ocean for the foreseeable future.
