Overview
The most populous gas giant in Eternum and sharing a name with a nearby planet, Lonelus possesses large floating platforms that cities have built up upon, taking advantage of the high buoyancy the gasses of the gas giant provide. Lonelus possesses enough oxygen with a safe atmospheric pressure at the height the platforms float, and thus the platforms don't need any special atmospheric processing or sealed domes. The floating platforms rest upon gigantic air ballasts that stably support structures built on top, and though not as large as hab-blocks and factories built on normal worlds Lonelus does possess impressively large buildings. Each city is supported independently, with the only travel method being spacecraft or atmospheric shuttles that fly between ports found in each city. The primary focus of these cities is gas harvesting, from H-fuel to rare gasses used by Filimars for more advanced production, and the cities harvest and refine onsite before shipping the finished gas cylinders to Filimars and other worlds in Eternum. As a result of their unique civilization, Lonelus is well suited to provide Drop Troop regiments and pilots for the Imperial Guard and Navy, with the Iron Talon Drop Troop regiments earning a well deserved reputation for bravado and dangerous insertions.
The Second Lonelus
The nearby planet, also named Lonelus as the result of both location's original settlers claiming the name at the same time in different Adeptus Administratum registries, is far less unique than the more commonly known gas giant Lonelus. It possesses a temperate climate and few large cities, and its tithe has morphed into just manpower and gas giant Lonelus bound workers and needed materials. As the civilized world Lonelus is unremarkable compared to the gas giant Lonelus, Eternum's populace almost always refers to the latter when they mention Lonelus.
