Overview

A brutal world purposed as a penal colony, Teblink is home to a unique mud that has restorative properties, particularly in restoring eye sight and stamina. Teblink is a Low Gothic corruption of 'to blink', as the original colonists successfully traded the mud with the slogan "All you have to do to is to blink!". Corrupted over time by the pirates who invaded the world to Teblink, the original name is only known to the most studious adepts in cartography.

Harvesting the mud is a dangerous process, as quicksand and sinkholes that can swallow whole buildings are common, and the 'pets' of the pirate invaders who took the planet from the original colonists survived the Imperial purge of their owners, growing and mutating from overly long exposure to the mud into fearsome Mudsharks (terrifyingly stealthy and fast, and capable of tearing a worker to shreds in seconds), Meeches (a leech like swarming insect that can swarm a group of mudders and flense arms off in the time it takes the mudders to pull their arm back) and Deadmens (creatures that use their tendrils to puppet dead bodies, which they then use to trick mudders to come right to them. Deadmens are especially feared by the mudders, as while the speech is slightly off depending on the decomposition of the body, it takes a keen eye to tell the difference between your friend and a puppeted recently deceased version of said friend. As such, the planetary government had severe issues attracting workers to harvest the mud as their primary buyer, Carriboet, refused to pay more, and as a solution they turned their world into a penal colony. Attracting loads of prisoners of dubious guilt by offering a bounty for each one, Teblink has become the most populous penal colony in the entire sector, and its reputation is so well known just threatening to send a suspect to Teblink can make the toughest ganger confess and inform. While first and foremost a penal world, Teblink does still possess a reasonable population of freemen, whether descendants of previous colonists or the few men who earned their freedom the mudlands, and these men either tend the masses of mudders or harvest mud themselves, in the far safer regions of the planet. Teblink provides a large number of penal units to the Imperial Guard, with most prisoners volunteering for a chance to escape the mudfields. These Teblink Mudcrawlers Regiments are used for line infantry fodder, though they're far more effective using camouflaged than most penal or even regular Guard regiments.
