Overview
Ukesh is a heavily forested feudal world whose proximity to the turbulent warp storms that separate the Kalibras Old Worlds from the New Worlds has led to a higher than average rate of mutation and psykers. Ruled by the Renaldo Dynasty since the Imperium remade contact millennia ago, Ukesh has a mostly orderly system of governance, though strife between vassals is commonplace. Ukesh's nobles were so impressed by the normal rejuvenae treatments imperial servants get, they created a bastardized version by tearing the facial tissue off commoners they think embody youth and vitality, and stitching it onto their own face. Commoners who object are accused of being mutants, and frequent ostentatious executions of mutants, both real and alleged, are used to keep the populace afraid of revolt. This is not always effective, and thus armies of Ukesh, named The Faceless for the silver masks they all wear at the nobility's order to hide any scars or plain looking faces, are used to mercilessly cut down revolutionaries. Their experiences fighting mutants and the odd rogue unsanctioned psyker, who escaped Ukesh's Tithers responsible for collecting all those with any psychic talent for the Stargods, has turned them into hardy feudal forces useful for the Imperial Guard tithe. Ukeshian Faceless Regiments are quick to learn the lasgun and adopt to Munitorum expectations, though their odd customs place them at odds with more average regiments found in Eternum.
