Overview

Possessing harsh conditions for even a penal world, Etores is a swampy planet with a notorious reputation among the criminals of Eternum. Stationed in the central prison facility Angola Prime, the electromotive cerebrum chair better known as 'Gruesome Gertie' is used for displays of authority, with inmates who have broken one of the common restrictions of Etores (and who have no connections to avoid a fate) suffering a lengthy and public demise as Gertie slowly cooks them over the course of a local day in full view of the prison, and broadcast to every complex's vidscreens on loop. Prisoners live in excessively cramped conditions even for a penal world, spending most of the day laboring in strictly regulated farms or simple manufacturing, constantly watched by enforcers. Escape attempts are uncommon but desperate prisoners attempt them nonetheless, with those caught being next in line for electromotive punishment, and the few successful escapees finding themselves in the hellish swamps of Etores. The swamps are even worse than Angola Prime, and the skeletons of former prisoners are often found under the swamp's lethal inhabitants, from the deadly toxins of the Trime fruit to the brutal death of the shroomants, exceedingly few escapees survive long. Etores produces some goods, but its more relevant impact is on other world's of Kalibras's production rates, with threats of being sent to Etores used to motivate workers to reach their quotas. For a penal world, Etores is surprisingly faithful, with Angora's Imperial Priests constantly preaching and appointing the repentant to spread the Emperor's word to the prisoners, with prison authorities using them as impromptu enforcers that help augment their own ranks. Etores is also the source of many penal regiments in Eternum, filled by prisoner congregations that are repentant, or convincingly pretend to, and with sergeants chosen from the prisoner ministers. These Etoren 'Twice Judged' Penal Regiments, named for violating whichever law placed them in Etores and for, in their beliefs, being judged by the Emperor, have proven effective in forlorn hope actions or suicidal missions and the most fervent are happy to die to earn forgiveness for their crimes. The individuals who faked their faith will attempt to desert at the first opportunity, though their fellow penal legionaries stop them more often than not, expecting them to die in the Emperor's service or else. This self regulated behavior has allowed the Twice Judged to be relatively trusted by Militarum Command, and far less barrier regiments are needed for Etoren penal forces than most penal troops.
