Overview

A rare type of mining world, Leomonte is one of the few well established mining planets to still have a thriving biosphere. Though most of its native species died off, a select few survived thanks to tinkering from a Magos Biologis and have quickly grown to encompass the whole planet. These species, which originally showed a small ability to eat or filter some of the mining waste runoff were modified to subsist primarily off the pollution. With the massive slurry oceans of waste chemicals and mining runoff, these plants quickly grew out of control and turned the once mostly barren world into a choking jungle. Vines and other flora constantly grow across rails or into mining pits, thus the miners now have to fend off the expanding life while trying to mine. The increase in available local food does allow a larger population, though the PDF now has daily tasks of burning excess growth that threatens to obstruct the critical mines. Leomonte does provide a large amount of important resources to the shipyards of Gothar, and these same resources would be lost if the biosphere was bombarded from orbit to clear it out, thus Leomonterians must deal with it themselves. As a result of this, the PDF has grown exceptionally veteran at handling flamers, heavy flamers, and swords, which helps meet their title's new manpower requirement in Guard regiments as the mining output has slightly declined. Civilization is limited to settlements with anti-flora walls and flamer turrets, connected to mines with the same setup through electrified tracks that keep the larger flora from taking root. This electric current doesn't stop all life from clogging tracks, and thus every train on Leomonte is equipped with a reinforced prow and front facing flamers to ensure any track barriers are clearable.
