Overview

The only proper forge world in the Gothar subsector, Stotgurt is one of the few forge worlds in Eternum not subordinate to Filimars (either de jure or de facto). While Filimars and her worlds do manufacture ship components, they are utterly eclipsed by Stotgurt's output. Stotgurt has hyper specialized in voidcraft manufacturing, and there are almost no Imperial ships in Eternum that don't have at least some parts produced on Stotgurt. The Mechanicus of Stotgurt are less rigid in their thinking than the priesthood of Filimars, a fact which on multiple occasions has resulted in accusations of tech-heresy, which have spilled over into engagements - the worst of which happened during the First Poxwar. The Optimex Incident led to the loss of several systems when Explorator fleets from each forge world disagreed over modifications to Stotgurt's fleet's void shield generators, which quickly boiled over and resulted in both fleets engaging each other, destroying most of each and allowing the Chaos fleet uncontested control of the systems the Explorator fleets were charged with defending. This led the two forge worlds to accuse the other of being hereteks, starting a civil war in the midst of the Poxwar, an incredibly difficult position for the rest of the Imperium. The matter was formally settled when Graia and Gryphonne IV sent investigators to determine if the accusations were justified, which they resolved by declaring that Stotgurt had actually found the enhanced void shield design during one of their expeditions. This settled the matter officially, but both forge worlds still distrust the other, and while Filimars is more important to the Imperial ground forces of the sector, Stotgurt is critical to Battlefleet Eternum, causing an uneasy balance of power.

For those not involved in forge world politics, Stotgurt's patterns are known for being more powerful yet finicky, like Stotgurt pattern plasma maneuvering engines that allow a ship to turn quicker than the average manuever engine - while incredibly useful in void brawls these engines require far more rituals and litanies to appease than their peers, a fact also shared with the Stotgurt pattern void shield generator. Still, the increased maintenance costs are well worth it to certain captains who prioritize bursts of improved performance in exchange for more maintenance time. Stotgurt does also produce more standard patterns, though occasionally they 'discover' a new pattern or upgrade to an existing pattern. Stotgurt's skittarii are likewise better equipped than the standard Filimars skittarii, though their standing forces are but a fraction of Filimars's power. While small Stotgurt's skittarii are always on guard as Stotgurt falls on the side of Gothar not protected by Redobti, and thus were Caligulas to fall they would surely be a priority target for their production capabilities.
