Overview
Having the major port of call for Imperial Navy fleets in Caligulas, Mare Nostrum, in orbit, Fopet nonetheless serves an important role in the ground defense of the Aural Gate. A proper fortress world, Fopet's society lives in a state of constant militarization, with hab-blocks built into the large fortress walls and redoubts that cross the world. Were the Aural Gate to fall, Fopet would serve as the crux of Imperial resistance in Caligulas, a fact the Foperians know well. A significant amount of Cadian soldiers were settled on Fopet, thus the world has taken several Cadian traditions into their own - the fortress designs mirror Cadia, as does the total militarization of their society. Every Foperian is expected to serve, with teenagers forming whiteshield regiments that, for those who survive, will graduate into Foperian Regiments proper. Fopet has a large number of differing regiments, though not known for any particular specialization, nonetheless are a common site in the sector greater, with Foperian born regiments commonly found on the Gateworlds. This closeness to the front has not let Fopet go unscarred, and cults and rebellions are frequently put down by Foperian forces. The Castella, massive fortress complexes that dot the world, are designed for the realities of urban warfare, and though this design makes rebellions more difficult to purge, it also prevents their easy spreading. Named after famous Foperian commanders, the only Castella to ever fall thus far has been Castella Santocildes, the namesake of Foperian Guard General Cayetano María Llanos Santocildes. Falling to the corruption of Primus Chirurgeon Lope de Aguirre and his Nurglite cult, Castella Santocildes suffered a terrifying creation of Nurgle, and unknown to Fopet citizens sent to the hospital were infected, converted, or killed and raised with foul warp magic. The threat was eventually purged with the assistance of the Order of the Last Candle, but permanent settlement of Castella Santocildes has eluded Fopet, with each attempt ending in rebellion, disease outbreaks, or missing citizenry. Attempts continue even as the Second Poxwar rages, though few on Fopet volunteer to resettle the Cursed Castella.
