Overview
A heavily tainted world under the control of the Rotbelchers, Gammil has proven a crucial staging ground for the Rotbelchers for attacks on Imperial targets.
History
One of the many victims of the first postwar, the Hive World of Gammil was quickly overwhelmed by the Rotbelchers during their invasion, as the defenders found their orbital defenses firing on their own fleet and the hive turrets turning on the PDF and Guardsmen manning the world's fortifications. All too late the Imperium discovered the world's planetary governor and nobles turned traitor, giving control of the world's formidable defenses to the Rotbelchers in exchange for continuing their rule of the world. Without their defenses, the PDF and Guardsmen were quickly routed, and most surrendered falling for the nobles proclamation guaranteeing their safety, with those who resisted quickly being killed by their former compatriots. Rotbelcher control of the world was total, and with the orbital defenses in their hands, undamaged, it would take a large Battlefleet to even have a chance to invade. The Rotbelchers kept their word with the governor and Nobles, though not in the way the ruling class envisioned. The planetary governor was lashed to the world's former largest manufactorum, quickly growing with the festering plague cauldron enveloping the manufactorum and the nobles of the world, molding with the cauldron to become horrific abominations. They maintained their rule of the world's populace, serving as overseers of the populace while they toiled in factories producing twisted armament for the Rotbelchers, or alchebiological laboratories serving as both the testers and testees of new plagues concocted by the Rotbelchers.
The former governor, now known only as the Overseer, watches through his many eyes on tendrils that snake through each facility, with vox speakers and corrupted proclamators his expanding flesh enveloped keeping an eye on and commanding the citizenry of the world, in between screams of torment of what he's become. His nobles fared little better, the more capable becoming twisted plague infested monsters used to keep the populace in line, with the less useful used as living plague reservoirs rooted to structures by the tumors and growths their former bodies turned into, constantly spreading a myriad of miasmic emissions to corrupt further any individuals on the planet. The population of the world has fared little better, the faithful in the Emperor having been killed quickly, as their faith would prevent them from getting the worst of the fates, with the rest who chose to live becoming slaves who toil to produce arms and whatever else the Rotbelchers need to wage their pox wars. The most capable, or the most corrupted, joined the Rotbelcher warhost as cultists and other monstrosities, with the rare exceptional candidates becoming plague marine initiates. Today, the former hives are nothing more than pulsating tumors filled with throngs of the damned souls that still live on the blighted world, the only sign this was once an Imperial world being the still functioning orbital defenses, though even they are covered in protective tumors to further armor them against any who would seek to reclaim this world. Gammil now serves as the Rotbelchers staging ground for the war for the Aural Gate and Auerilis IV, constantly churning out ammunition, parts, bodies, diseases, and monsters for its pestilent owners. The Inquisition, along with the Crimson Bulwark and ranking Battlefleet Eternum, have marked the world for exterminatus, but this could only happen were the Aural Gate and Auerilis IV to be fully secured, and, due to the world's orbital defenses and corrupted planetary void shields, would require a targeted offensive to bring the shields down before cyclonic torpedoes could be launched.
